What is a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP)?An advanced practice nurse with a Master's Degree who has completed a practitioner program specializing in neonatal care.
A NNP is highly skilled in caring for well and critically ill infants and in neonatal resuscitation and delivery room management.
What can you expect from the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner?
- Attend deliveries of all high-risk newborns and provide immediate care in the delivery room. May do emergency resuscitation and procedures if necessary.
- Take a health history and perform a complete newborn physical exam on infants in the well-baby nursery and the LII nursery.
- Evaluate babies in the LII nursery, and in collaboration with your baby's bedside nurse, physician and case manager develop a plan of care.
