During your stay at Yampa Valley Medical Center you may receive a visit from one of our friendly volunteers. We have three programs to help make your hospital stay more pleasant.
The Cookie Cart volunteer visits patients rooms three days a week, delivering freshly baked, warm cookies, coffee, tea and bottled water to patients and their families or visitors. Sometimes, this is exactly what the doctor ordered!
The Heeling Friends program offers an opportunity for patients to receive visits from very special dogs or cats during their stay. These lovable animals are especially gentle and sociable and are highly trained by their owners, who are members of the national Delta Society. Our Heeling Friends dogs come in all sizes and breeds and are very eager to snuggle up to Yampa Valley Medical Center patients who are able to have visitors. These furry friends offer a great chance for patients to receive some precious TLC that only a pet could provide.
The STAR program provides important education and information. STAR stands for Safety Teaching using Auxiliary Resources. The YVMC Auxiliary volunteers will visit each patient room and offer education and insight on how patients can help play an active role in making their own healthcare decisions. The Auxiliary volunteer may also answer general questions from patients regarding Yampa Valley Medical Center.
