STEAMBOAT SPRINGS – Yampa Valley Medical Center’s advertising campaign, Extraordinary People… Personalized Care, was named the 2010 Hospital Project of the Year at the Colorado Healthcare Communicators Gold Leaf Awards dinner on October 21.

The ad series also topped the print advertising campaign category, receiving a Gold Leaf Award. Additionally, YVMC’s 2010 Annual Report, Living Our Mission, earned a Bronze Leaf Award.

“It’s an honor for our Extraordinary People ad campaign to be recognized among our peers in healthcare marketing and public relations,” said YVMC Chief Executive Officer Karl Gills.

“We are very proud of this project that spotlights some of the outstanding people who work at Yampa Valley Medical Center. These awards exemplify that we have succeeded in our goal to put a face on the quality and scope of our hospital’s services.”

Yampa Valley Medical Center’s Extraordinary People… Personalized Care ad campaign appears weekly on Tuesdays in the Steamboat Today and on Wednesdays or Saturdays in the Craig Daily Press.

Each ad features an individual hospital employee or a small team who has been nominated by department directors and co-workers. The ad series is designed by Steamboat Design Associates, featuring the work of Steamboat Springs photographer Hilary Spillane.

Content is written by YVMC Public Relations Director Christine McKelvie, who attended the Gold Leaf Awards ceremony at the Wellshire Inn in Denver.

“It was an honor to accept accolades for this ad series, which affirms that exceptional individuals and teams make an enormous difference in people’s lives,” McKelvie said. “We have had a tremendous community response to the ads. The judges were impressed that our spotlighted employees are being recognized throughout the region for their compassion and service.”

The 2010 Hospital Project of the Year is one of three Judges’ Choice Awards presented at the 2010 Gold Leaf Awards ceremony. This is the first time YVMC has been honored with a Judges’ Choice Award. Over the last nine years YVMC’s public relations department has brought home a total of 15 Gold, Silver and Bronze Gold Leaf Awards.

Since the 1970s, Colorado Healthcare Communicators (CHC) has honored professionals in public relations, communications, and marketing through its annual Gold Leaf Awards competition. CHC is the only Colorado member organization that exclusively honors local healthcare communicators and marketing professionals.

The categories include: advertising, collateral pieces, annual reports, communications programs, community relations, media relations, websites, presentations, writing, newsletters, new media and more.
