About Dr. Verploeg
Eric Verploeg holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Iowa, College of Medicine. Born in Omaha, Dr. Verploeg did his undergraduate work at Iowa State. In 1982, after obtaining his MD, he performed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of New Mexico Hospitals in Albuquerque, New Mexico until 1987. A fellowship in Orthopaedic Traumatology then took him abroad to Switzerland and Germany.
In late 1987, he returned to the United States for Sports Medicine work with Hughston Orthopedic Clinic in Columbus, Georgia. He went on to partner with John R Steadman, MD of South Lake Tahoe, California, during a fellowship focusing in Knee & Sports Medicine until July, 1988.
Dr. Verploeg holds membership in many professional organizations including the Colorado Orthopaedic Society since 1989 and the Denver Medical Society since 1993. He has served as a diplomat on the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is a fellow with the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, as well as with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
