Quality care

The YVMC New Mobility team focuses its efforts on the most up-to-date procedures and practices to ensure high quality and cost-effective care. The program includes minimally invasive total and partial knee replacements and total hip replacements using both the traditional and resurfacing methods.

Patient-centered care

You and your family are the center of our team, and the program will empower you to achieve a successful surgery. Our team approach focuses on patient education. Teaching individuals undergoing a joint replacement surgery what to expect before, during and after hospitalization can have an important impact on recovery and overall satisfaction.

Features of the program

You will receive a comprehensive resource book which provides information about your surgery. Please read this book thoroughly and bring it with you to the hospital.

You will meet with your primary care physician who will take a medical history and perform a physical exam.

You will meet with a pre-operative nurse, the Joint Replacement Coordinator, and a physical therapist prior to your surgery.

During your hospital stay, you will meet with the physical therapist twice a day. She or he will provide education regarding assistive devices, joint protection and energy conservation techniques that will prepare you to return to your normal activities.

The Joint Replacement Coordinator/case manager will assist you during your hospital stay with insurance matters and will help you plan for your care after you are discharged from the hospital.

The nursing staff will assess your overall status and pain levels to keep you comfortable during your hospital stay.

A newly added service is a free 15-minute to half-hour treatment provided by our Yampa Valley Integrated Health team. Patients who are staying overnight on either Monday or Wednesday may select one free service from this list: acupuncture, massage, counseling or visualization.
