About Dr. Sauerbrey
Andreas M. Sauerbrey, MD joined Orthopaedics of Steamboat in 2001. He served as Chief of Surgery for Yampa Valley Medical Center from 2006 to 2008. He has served as an Arthrex Arthroscopy Course Instructor from 2006 to the present. Previously, he worked at Medical OPS Management, performing Orthopaedic Independent Medical evaluations and as a relief physician at Bryne Mare Rehabilitation Hospital in Malvern, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Sauerbrey received his M.D. degree from Oregon Health Sciences University in 1992. He completed an internship in the Department of General Surgery at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in 1993. He went on to complete his Orthopaedic Residency at the University of Colorado.
Subsequently, Dr. Sauerbrey received fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, and in hand surgery at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. His specialty training in conditions affecting the upper extremity provide an extra level of expertise in those areas; however, he is well trained to manage all aspects of orthopedic care including joint replacement, sports and trauma.
Dr. Sauerbrey also has his Sports Medicine Specialty Certificate. Each year, he attends orthopaedic courses and instructor meetings so he can provide patients with the latest technologies in his specialty. He has extensive experience and interest in PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) therapy.
A USAA and US Ski Team Physician
Since arriving in Steamboat Springs, Dr Sauerbrey has volunteered for USSA and the US Ski Team. He has traveled with the Freestyle Ski Team annually since 2002 and was the US Freestyle Ski Team Physician from 2007 until 2011. As Freestyle Team Physician, he covered the World Championships in Inawashiro, Japan in 2009 and Deer Valley in 2011. He was also chosen to be the Freestyle Team Physician for the Vancouver Olympics in 2010.
Dr. Sauerbrey is originally from Bend, Oregon, and is glad to live in a small town so he can interact with people on a more personal level. His wife, Lisa, is from Anchorage, Alaska. They have a son, Max, and a daughter, Morgan.
