Perioperative Services Assistant or Technician

PERIOPERATIVE SERVICES ASSISTANT

Position Summary:
Facilitates the safe and efficient flow of patient care in the perioperative department..

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assists in preparing the patient for the surgical procedure.
2. Assists and facilitates room turn over and gathers supplies and equipment.
3. Assists with processing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
4. Transports patients pre-op and post-op.

PERIOPERATIVE SERVICES TECHNICIAN

Position Summary:
Facilitates the safe and efficient flow of patient care in the perioperative department. Places IVs and performs blood draws.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Performs clinical tasks including taking vital signs, placing IVs and drawing labs. Assists in preparing and transporting patients for surgical procedures and prepping operative sites.
2. Assists and facilitates room turn over and gathers supplies and equipment.
3. Supports patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
4. Assists with department quality audits.


Qualifications:

PERIOPERATIVE SERVICES ASSISTANT:
Minimum Required Education: High School Diploma or GED. Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant.
Required Experience: None required.
Licenses/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
Skills and Abilities: Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must
be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

 PERIOPERATIVE SERVICES TECHNICIAN:

Minimum Required Education: High School diploma or GED
Required Experience: None required.
Licenses and Certifications: IV Certification. EMT or LPN. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
Skills and Abilities: Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must
be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date.  BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.  All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.)

40 hours/week
Monday-Friday
6:00am-2:30pm (Shifts may vary)
Variable Weekend call required
